Reading 03

What is annotated Bibliography?

Bibliography is Greek for Book Writing.. Annotate is Latin for "Add notes to"
Annotated Bibliographies are lists of books with notes. Nowadays it's not just books but can also contain articles and anything else that contains information.

Citation: Contains one or two lines and conforms to whatever style is assigned.

Summary: Gives the reader an idea of what the source is all about.

Annotation: "The meat of the assignment"

Writing an annotated bibliography forces you to do your research early and encourages you to be selective.

For the reading I have decided to look up articles on Video Game development as that is what this module is and would help me to get some insight and ideas into video game design.
My first stop was CG Spectrum the article was called "How Video Games are made: The Game Development Process". Overall this was around a 15 minute read but was totally worth it.

The first part of the article went into fine detail into what the Game Development Pipeline is and how it helps in the smooth running of any game development.

The next part went over "The 3 Stages of Game Development" these are:

Pre-Production:

This is the point where every project begins, this is when you will do initial research and get an insight into what you're getting yourself into (Like I am right now).

Production:

Production is the longest stage of the pipeline, and it's an all hands on approach.

This part of the article was very long and Frankly it gave me an awful headache, I would highly recommend having a read through it when there is time to do so.

Post-Production:

After a game has been released to the general public it is up to a certain few people to do regular maintenance on the game, this comes in the form of bug fixes, security updates and creating extra bonus or downloadable content.

The link to the article that I would recommend everyone check out.

While scrolling through Google I also found that on average a video game designer in Ireland ears around 30k euro a year.
